About the Recipe

There’s nothing quite like the taste of a tree-ripened Georgia peach, and this old-fashioned peach cobbler is the perfect way to enjoy them. Whether you're baking with fresh peaches straight from our orchard or preserving them to enjoy all year long, this recipe brings the sweet taste of summer to your table.

Ingredients

For the Peach Filling:

  • 5 fresh Georgia peaches (about 4 cups), peeled, pitted, and sliced

  • ¾ cup granulated sugar

  • ¼ teaspoon salt


For the Batter:

  • 6 tablespoons butter

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour

  • 1 cup granulated sugar

  • 2 teaspoons baking powder

  • ¼ teaspoon salt

  • ¾ cup milk

  • Ground cinnamon, to taste

Preparation

  1. Prepare the PeachesIf using fresh peaches:

    • In a saucepan, combine sliced peaches, sugar, and salt.

    • Cook over medium heat for a few minutes until the sugar dissolves and juices are released.

    • Remove from heat and set aside.


      (Skip this step if using canned peaches.)

  2. Preheat the Oven

    • Set oven to 350°F.

    • Place butter in a 9x13 inch baking dish and let it melt in the oven as it preheats.

    • Once melted, remove the dish from the oven.

  3. Make the Batter

    • In a bowl, mix flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.

    • Stir in milk until just combined.

    • Pour batter over the melted butter in the baking dish. Do not stir.

  4. Add the Peaches

    • Spoon the peaches and their juices (or canned peaches) evenly over the batter.

    • Sprinkle generously with cinnamon.

  5. Bake

    • Bake for 38–40 minutes, or until golden and bubbly.

    • Serve warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream for the ultimate treat!


🍑 Peach Peeling Tip

To easily peel fresh peaches:

  1. Boil water and gently lower in 2–3 peaches at a time for 30 seconds.

  2. Transfer to an ice water bath.

  3. The skins will slip right off—no knife needed!
